Jotun celebrates 100 years

As we reflect on 100 years since Jotun was established, we would like to take the opportunity to thank our employees, customers, shareholders and all the friends of Jotun who’ve helped shape our journey and contribute to this milestone. Every layer of paint that was applied, added another layer to the Jotun story.

April 17, 2026

On this day 100 years ago, 17th April 1926, Jotun was established. That was when our founder Odd Gleditsch Sr and partners signed the formal establishing documents and acquired a tiny chemical factory in Sandefjord, Norway.

100 years later, we can truly say that Jotun has had a remarkable journey. The key ingredients along the way have been people, culture, values and growth. As we reach this milestone, we have a lot to be proud of and a lot to look forward to.

Today, however, is all about celebration. Here is a birthday message from Chairman of the Board Odd Gleditsch d.y. and President and CEO Morten Fon.
